In Hungary natural gas is the most significant energy source: its ratio among the primary energy sources exceeds 40 per cent. The underground natural gas storages play an important role in covering the winter peak demand and thus in ensuring the security of supply: on a cold winter day more than the half of the gas supply of Hungary is covered by our storages.
E.ON Földgáz Storage operates four underground storage sites with a total working gas capacity of 4.2 million cubic meters and a daily withdrawal capacity of 55.1 million cubic meters. It is an important goal of the company to extend the existing storage capacities that play a significant role not only in ensuring the security of supply in the winter but they can also contribute to Hungary’s future role as a significant gas hub in the Central European region.
